16 km away from Shimla, this place has long been famous for its ski-slopes and five views of deep valleys and thick forests that are framed by a backdrop of un-melting snows. Ski-runs are there at Kufri itself, while the Mahasu Peak that is approached through a two km long forest trail, has fresh runs. There is a small zoo at Kufri. The drive between Kufri and Chail is along the Ridge shaded by trees and has fine views. Kufri also has the Himalayan Nature Park. In this park rare varieties of Hangal, Barking Deer, Musk Deer, Brown Bear, rare species of Monal and other pheasants are kept in social groupings. Extensive development and improvement of the Kufri areas has recently been done by the combined efforts of the government, entrepreneurs and Kufri’s residents. |
